All US markets closed on Wednesday for Independence Day. At Midday today we will see the latest Bank of England interest rate decision where it is expected to see an increase by 0.25 basis points. The FTSE, writes Greg, 100 slowly traded higher during the session to close the day up 33 points, and the FTSE 250 added 86 points. Futures – DOW is called up 20 points, FTSE is called up 10 points. Oil is trading at $71.30 a barrel and gold at $655.10.

With the US 4th July Independence Day holiday the markets closed midday on Tuesday and are shut on Wednesday. The DOW added 41 points on its way back up to the major resistance at 13700. The S&P added 5 points, The NASDAQ looks to be leading the way which gapped higher at the open and closed up 12 points at another new 6 year high. The FTSE, writes Greg, 100 gapped higher at the open and held on to the gains to finish the day up 49 points. The FTSE, writes Greg, 250 gapped up at the open and traded higher throughout the session to close the day up 213 points. Futures – DOW is closed, FTSE is called down 3 points. The DOW had a strong session closing at the highs of the session and adding 126 points on the day. The S&P gapped higher at the open and closed up 16 points. The NASDAQ added 29 points and closed at a new 6 year high. The FTSE, writes Greg, 100 had a small gap down at the open and traded sideways for the rest of the session ending the day down 17 points. Futures – DOW is called up 20 points, FTSE is called up 30 points. Oil is trading at $70.90 a barrel and gold at $657.8.

The DOW had a volatile session on Friday ending the day down 13 points. The S&P closed down 2 points and the NASDAQ closed down 5 points. The FTSE, writes Greg, 100 ended the day up 36 points. But the FTSE 250 could only add 8 points. Futures – DOW is called up 30 points, FTSE is called down 40 points. Oil is trading above the $70 level at $70.40 a barrel and gold at $649.
